Menstrual Cycle Informed Counselling

Supportive exploration of your cycle and mood

Are your hormones impacting your emotions?

Maybe you notice that the week before your period you feel like a monster or perhaps you feel incredibly low and disengaged during your bleed. You may be overwhelmed by anxiety, but only during the second half of your cycle, or you know you have PMDD but cannot find a way forward. Perhaps you’re feeling this is just the way it has to be for women, but the idea of living this way for the next 10, 20, 30 years is unbearable.

Whatever it is that you’re experiencing, you’re beginning to notice the impact of this in every facet of your life:

  • You feel like your PMS is out of control.

  • You can no longer fake it until you make it during the hardest weeks of the month.

  • You feel completely at odds with your body

  • Your mood is unpredictable and it is affecting your relationships, particularly with your partner or children.

  • You feel ashamed that you can’t just keep it all together, and so you hide this very real experience from the world.

Menstrual Cycle Informed Counselling can help.

It may feel impossible now, but you can feel like yourself for your whole cycle. You can use your cycle to reconnect with yourself. You can even befriend your menstrual cycle. And I can help you get there.

Cycle-Informed Counselling helps you do three things:

  • Identify the good, the bad and the ugly days of your cycle and come to understand the variation

  • Acknowledge the reality of your experience of your cycle and make peace with it

  • Learn the tools that will help you to anticipate the monthly ebb and flow of your mood so you can offer yourself the compassion you deserve.

I’ll help throughout this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to Cycle Informed Counselling comes from a place of curious compassion: believing that your menstrual cycle offers an opportunity for us to really understand what’s happening for you emotionally, physically and mentally and using that understanding to help you find a way forward.

You don’t have to live life feeling you’re at the mercy of your cycle.

FAQ

Q: What are Cycle Informed Counselling sessions like?

A: We begin by tracking your cycle, and exploring the experience of your entire cycle. We then begin to shift your mindset regarding your cycle from burden to awareness. Over time we begin to see patterns in mood which correlate to your cycle. And as we explore the feelings, expectations and frustrations we begin to see subtle shifts in experience.

Q: How long do I need to be in therapy?

A: Most of my clients stay with me for six months or longer. Most clients working with their cycle need a minimum of 3 months to begin to get to grips with the patterns specific to their cycle.

Q: How do I know if Cycle Informed Counselling will work for me?

A: I cannot make any promises, but I can say that very few counsellors have my experience in this area. I have developed the Cycle Informed Counselling model myself, based on in-depth research and best-practice. I am passionate about helping my clients find freedom from the feelings of being controlled and besieged by their cycle and believe together we can find ways of understanding your particular experience. You are not going crazy, you are a woman, living in the modern age who needs to find ways to reconnect with herself.

Q: How do we get started?

A: You fill out my contact form and I’ll be in touch to offer an initial 50-minute consultation where we’ll discuss your needs, what I offer and get a feel for working together. If we both feel it is a good fit we begin meeting weekly; we continue as long as you feel you are getting benefit from our sessions.
