Couples & Relationship Counselling

Supportive exploration of your relationship

Are you concerned about your relationship?

Maybe your day to day experience of your relationship has become frustrating. There is a looming decision and agreement seems far away. You are no longer fulfilled sexually. Perhaps you are trying to recover from an affair.

Whatever the details the reality is your partnership no longer feels like enough:

  • Life has changed after children and you want to reconnect.

  • You find communicating your needs/wants/desires difficult or feel your partner no longer hears you.

  • There is a sense that things have gone too far and finding each other again feels hopeless.

  • The fun and excitement of your early relationship has been lost and you want to rekindle the spark.

  • You’ve decided you wish to end your relationship, but in a way that honours and respects what you once had.

Relationships Counselling can help.

There is a hopelessness that is often felt when a couple begins to seek counselling - how has it gotten this bad? can we fix things? what if I don’t want it to look like it used to?

Couples counselling helps you do three things:

  • Explore the whole experience of your relationship, even the parts that feel uncomfortable.

  • Acknowledge the reality of your current experience and what needs to change.

  • Learn how to communicate with each other in ways that are constructive and build relational resilience.

I’ll help throughout this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach Relationships Counselling is one where you the couple explore your relationship together, with my support. You’ll come to a deeper understanding of what needs to change for new common ground to be found. And we’ll practice real-life skills so you are ready for future challenges after our work together ends.

Your relationship can be fulfilling & fun once again.

FAQ

Q: What are Couples Counselling sessions like?

A: To start you’ll be sent an in-depth questionnaire to be completed before our first session. Both partners need to be committed to the process of counselling and desire change in the relationship for couples therapy to be successful. During the first session we’ll explore why you’re attending couples therapy, what you hope to get out of the time together and what each of you are willing to do change your current situation. We’ll meet weekly for 50 minutes at a time. All couples sessions are £125/session.

Q: How long do we need to be in therapy?

A: Most of my clients stay with me for six months or longer. But this might vary depending on the nature of the work.

Q: How do we know if Couples Counselling will work for us?

A: I cannot make any promises - but at the moment, what you are doing isn’t working for you, if it were, you’d not be looking up relationship therapy! I can offer a safe space for you to constructively work through your issues, learn how to communicate and hopefully, in time, rekindle your relationship.

Q: How do we get started?

A: You fill out my contact form and I’ll be in touch to confirm my availability and offer an initial 60-minute consultation where we’ll discuss your needs, what I offer and get a feel for working together. If everyone is satisfied, we begin meeting weekly; we continue as long as you feel you are getting benefit from our sessions.
